Mother Earth Justice Advocates
Mother Earth Justice Advocates (MEJA), is an Indigenous-led, non-partisan, group of Matriarch storytellers, based in Treaty 4. They are committed to pushing forward the amplification, honour, and implementation of the Peoples Declaration on the Rights of Mother Earth drafted originally in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Today more than ever before, the land’s peoples require acknowledgement and enforcement of Indigenous rights but more importantly their land stewardship duties as a solution to adaptation and mitigation of the climate change crisis). As a result MEJA is devoted to uplifting community education and action through this declaration as well as the Meja Declaration for the Creation of a Better World and examining the correlation between the violations of Indigenous Peoples rights and the resulting impacts on Mother Earth.
