New Artistic Director

The Regina Folk Festival Board of Directors is thrilled to introduce our new Artistic Director, Amber Goodwyn!

“I am honoured and excited to join the excellent Regina Folk Festival team and community as Artistic Director,” Goodwyn said. “I’d like to thank the talented RFF staff for all the work they have put in over the last year, including planning the up-coming Winterruption festival, and to the Board of Directors for their leadership. I look forward to creating meaningful music experiences in collaboration with the community and expanding the possibilities of the festival in the years to come!”

Amber Goodwyn is an arts administrator and multidisciplinary artist with active performance, film and video, writing and music practices. She makes music in several projects including her award-winning experimental pop music project, Natural Sympathies, and engages in Serious Playtime with NTRL SYMP’s back-up dancers, The Mutual Affection. Amber comes to us from 91.3FM CJTR, Regina Community Radio where she served as Program Director and later Executive Director. During her time there she supported the airwaves with innovative community-minded programming and was nominated for the YWCA Women of Distinction awards for Arts and Culture in 2018 and 2020.

Amber holds a BFA in Film Production (with distinction) from Concordia University as well as a Creative Arts DEC from Dawson College with a certificate in Humanistic Education. Previously Amber worked in the Music Department at CKUT McGill Radio in her hometown of Montreal, where she was also a founding member of the Double Negative Film Collective and active in the music and arts community there. Continuing to expand her role as an active volunteer, she has served on various boards and committees including those of Swamp Fest, Girls Rock Regina, and Holophon Audio Arts. She is an adjudicator on various juries for funding for national and provincial music awards including the Polaris Music Prize. Amber has written about music, arts and culture as a freelancer for Prairie Dog Magazine, Broken Pencil and other publications.

Amber has curated genuine moments for a variety of audiences and has made meaningful connections in the Saskatchewan arts & culture sector. The Regina Folk Festival cannot wait to share and experience Amber’s creative vision and future programming.
