Karley Parovsky is a violin/fiddle player, composer and arranger. With roots in classical music, Karley has spent time on and off traveling the world to learn from masters of the instrument in genres ranging from fiddle, to funk, to bluegrass, and beyond. Karley has played with the Regina Symphony Orchestra for 20 years and has had many other opportunities to make music with groups such as the Andino Suns, the Alley Dawgs and Wolf Willow, to name a few. In 2018, Karley gave a Tedx talk at the Regina Public Library on Music, Creativity and Self- Expression. In 2020, Karley wrote and arranged music for an installation as part of Trespassers Waltz, a multi-disciplinary, immersive art experience put on by Saskatchewan-based theater company, Curtain Razors. Coming from a classical background and finding passion and inspiration in the fiddle and folk world, Karley has often felt like a misfit, an other. Her work blends her love for all styles. Most recently Karley can be found touring Saskatchewan with her newest band, Soil & Grass.
The Alley Dawgs were born in the honky tonk, having cut their teeth working rough & tough crowds all throughout the Saskatchewan dive bar circuit. They play 20th century country & western music, and can play it all night with a repertoire of approximately 300 songs (including all the deep cuts, tender ballads, and bone throws, you want to hear!). You can catch them at their regular gig, Honky Tonk Tuesday at The Fat Badger in downtown Regina. Having played host to a number of special guests over the years including the legendary Kacy & Clayton, Erroll Kinistino & Josie Whitebear, Ellen Froese, Zachary Lucky, Richard Inman, Brian Sklar, Megan Nash (and many more), it's safe to say that The Alley Dawgs Honky Tonk Tuesday is an institution for local and travelling artists!
