Have Your Best Fest

Tips and rules to help you make the most of your Regina Folk Festival experience.

Accessibility

The RFF is committed to creating an accessible environment so that everyone can enjoy the fun. Information about our accessibility measures can be found here. For any questions, concerns or comments on site, please chat with our Ambassadors at the Info Booth.

Most of the RFF staff you see are volunteers! Please be patient with them. We’re all trying our best!

Dress in layers!

The weather can be a bit unpredictable and the show goes on rain or shine! Exceptions are if there is lightning (then we wait for an hour) or weather that makes it unsafe for us to be together. If we do have to shut down the show, stay tuned for updates on our social media platforms – the show may be back on, moved or cancelled.

Think about bringing a waterproof blanket for the daytime stages. The grass is sometimes wet in the mornings/early afternoon/or if it has rained recently.

Tarps and blankets can be a maximum of 6 feet by 8 feet. Please keep tarps and blankets close to your neighbours to make room for others.

Stay hydrated!

You can wash your hands and refill your reusable water bottles at the refilling/washing stations. You can find them on the festival map. Water is free at RFF! It’s important to us that you stay hydrated and also that you wash your hands.

Bring your own reusable water bottles or purchase one from our Merch Tent. You can also find great things to buy from the artists performing at the festival.

Keep clean!

Please keep the porta-potties clean. Wash your hands. Use hand sanitizer. Knock to see if there is someone in there already!

Take care of the park!

Please pick up after yourselves. Offer to take your neighbours’ beer cups to the compost for them! Our Environment Volunteers will help you properly dispose of your garbage, recyclables, and compostables at the RFF sorting stations. In 2018, we diverted more than 50% of waste from the landfill. We’re working to increase that percentage every year!

Lost and Found

Find lost goods or lost children at the Info Booth, located in the center of Victoria Park. Keep a human with your belongings in the lineup to the Mainstage. The RFF does not take responsibility for any unattended items. If a bear comes and throws your chairs into the trees, that’s on you.

Dos and Don’ts

  • Get some delicious food from the food vendors. Find something beautiful and wonderful to take home at the Arts Market.

  • Be sure to check out the daytime workshops. Some magic always happens when these amazing artists get together. And it’s all free!

  • Do not smoke, vape, have outside alcohol or any drugs on the festival site. That includes cannabis.

  • Hey, don’t bring any weapons with you, and don’t be violent! Those are not kind, respectful things to do.

  • Leave your pets (fur or scale or fin) at home. Service animals are welcome.

  • And more than anything, have a nice time! We’re here to relax and enjoy some lovely music in a beautiful park. What’s better than that?

“Take care of each other. Be respectful of those around you. Be flexible and considerate.”

Taking pictures/video and sharing it on social media is A-OK! Tag us so we can share your pics with the world.

If you are a media professional, please contact the Media Team for accreditation. Please no unaccredited professional photography or filming.

Seating

Coming into the Main Stage: You may see folks lining up for the mainstage very early in the day. We have a Jump the Line voucher system for folks who line up REALLY early and don’t want to be in line all day. You absolutely don’t have to do that. If you want to get in right when the gates open, there will be a long line. It takes about twenty minutes to get in if you are at the back of that line. You can find our seating map here. If you plan on sitting in lowriders, you should try to come right when gates open. If you are using high riders or are planning on standing, you can come when the spirit moves you!

Low rider chairs are low enough that a basketball can’t roll underneath it. A high rider is a chair that can have a basketball roll underneath it. If you don’t have a basketball to test your chair  with, they are about 9.5 inches tall.

Our mainstage area is small enough that even at the very back, you have a great view of the stage.

Depending on where you are sitting and who is playing, you may want hearing protection! If you didn’t bring your own, you can get some fancy orange ear plugs at the First Aid Tent.

RFF 50/50

Be sure to buy an RFF 50/50 ticket (or ten) for a chance to win some serious cash! All of the RFF’s 50/50 revenue goes toward our outreach program – putting artists in schools and other facilities to teach and perform to kids of all ages. Find 50/50 volunteers roaming or at their booths all weekend. Winner will be announced from the Mainstage Sunday at about 10:00 pm and will be posted on our website the following day. Once the winner was ticket #00001 so buy early and often!

“Enjoy yourself and take care of yourself! Drink lots of water, stay sun safe, and have a nice time.”
