If you could see your music, what would it look like?

Most of the time when I am performing or writing I can see a wash of purple and blue, it's difficult to explain. Performances whizz by and I can't recall visually seeing anything other than a flurry of colours.

What is the most crucial equipment for your music-making?

As of late my bass has been crucial to music making. I wrote most of my new album on it, just noodling away with some bassline ideas that eventually take form.

What is your favourite home cooked meal?

Gotta be simple hot dogs in Kraft Dinner lol. It's a delicacy!

Tell us a handful of songs that you've always loved or that you've been enjoying lately!

Anything off of D'Angelo's album Voodoo, specifically "One Mo' Gin" and "Chicken Grease". I've also been listening to a lot of various jazz artists, notably: The YAYennings Quartet, Pyjaen, Joscho Stephan's version of "Donna Lee", Brad Mehldau Trio, and a whole lot of Herbie Hancock's early stuff!

Micah Jane is an 18-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her style is dramatic and bold, with music ranging from edgy electro-pop to soft, acoustic guitar ballads. Her songs explore themes of grief, queerness and most notably feeling comfortable in your own skin. Currently, she is one of the artists in Residence at the Bunkhouse Project and has recently been selected to partake in Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan's Emerging artists program. She has 8 upcoming shows happening in August, including Regina Folkfest and the Saskatoon Fringe Festival. Her debut EP is set to release before the end of July. As a shamelessly confident gender queer person navigating a male-dominated music industry, she is looking forward to taking over the world and inspiring others through her art.
