The Regina Folk Festival takes place on Treaty 4 land, home to the Saulteaux, Cree, Dakota, Lakota, Nakota peoples, as well as the homeland of the Métis. The land is now home to a diverse population but we are all Treaty people with a responsibility to uphold and honour the treaties. We strive to build a festival that is reflective of the communities we serve and recognize that we have to work toward reconciliation year-round, not just on National Indigenous Peoples Day.
A small, everyday act that one can do is listen to Indigenous music. We highly recommend adding all of these talented 2018 RFF artists to your playlists to get you started: Tanya Tagaq, DJ Shub, Eekwol, nêhiyawak and T-Rhyme.
